Pyrethrin Use

Asked October 16, 2017, 9:17 AM EDT

I wasn't vigilant early enough to spot the crossed-striped caterpillar on my broccoli. It was quite an infestation, and hand-picking proved overwhelming (and made me want to throw up). A horticulturist from a garden center suggested I apply pyrethrin which I did, carefully avoiding the floret. The product worked, however, this morning I saw some new ones arrive and hand picked them off. My question is, having applied this pesticide, will I endanger my compost pile when I compost these broccoli leaves at harvest?
