Do these need covered in the winter in mn? Also will these re-seed from unharvested fruit?

Thank you for the question. Ground cherries belong to the same family as tomatoes, peppers, tomatillos and eggplants. These are also known as the nightshade, or solanaceae family and are sensitive to the cold weather we have here. Your current plants will not survive the winter but any fruit that drops to the ground may reseed itself next year.
