Unknown fruit and leaf
This looks like it might be a wild persimmon (Diospyros virginiana). When you cut the fruit, is it yellowish or pale orange inside? One distinctive characteristic of the persimmon tree is the bark. It is dark gray with scaly blocks. It is sometimes described as having a texture like charcoal briquettes. Compare the characteristics of your tree with the photos on this page from the Maryland Biodiversity Project. https://www.marylandbiodiversity.com/viewSpecies.php?species=1596
Thanks for confirming my suspicions. It's a young tree with good opportunity for growth.
