I have newly grown grass, and I want to know is, if I put cow manure over it for the winter, will it come up in spring? This would be in place of fertilizer. Thank you, Mary Machiniak

If it is fresh cow manure, then I would say not to use it as the fresh manure is high in soluble salts that may harm the roots. If it is aged manure, then a light top dressing should be helpful. Aged cow manure can provide both organic matter and nutrients to the soil.
