Issues with our Blue Spruce

Referencing the attached photos, some needles on the North side of our Blue Spruce are turning yellow. We also have a white substance oozing from the main trunk, and cankerous growth on some branches. All three of these issues are occurring mainly on the shady side of the tree. Are they related, or separate issues, and what can be done? The tree is over 35 years old and we would hate to lose it.

Hi there,

It looks like the needle yellow is due to cold or water stress. Has there been any injury to the trunk or roots of the tree?

The oozing from the bark may be bacterial wet wood. Here is some information about it:

The twig growth may actually be a scale insect but I cannot tell.
