Spruce trees infected

Asked October 2, 2017, 8:14 PM EDT

Something is attacking my spruce trees. Patches are turning brown and dropping their needles. My neighbor has a spruce tree that began looking sick several years ago. It looks half dead now. I'm afraid the illness has spread to my trees. What is causing the disease and how can I treat my trees? Thanks.

We viewed your photos. We cannot say what is going on as we could not see the whole tree and what the rest of the tree looks like. The branch in the photos looks like it was compromised possibly due to sap sucker damage, broken branch, etc. All you can do is prune back to healthy tissue.

You can send additional photos of the whole tree, around the base, and affected foliage.
