Good morning!
Aren't home grown strawberries the best? Alas, here in the Denver area the only planting of strawberries we can do right now is to transplant larger plants. Otherwise, plant bare-root strawberry plants each spring. They do best in full sun with well-drained soil. Make sure and buy resistant varieties from local growers; strawberry plants are succeptible to a number of diseases so these steps will save you a lot of heartache.
By planting in the spring (June bearing-one huge flush of fruit, everbearing-longer season, day neutral-not as fussy about sunlight), you will not only get fruit that same year, but the plant will send out runners (new plants) that will ensure a crop the following year. So take a few months to plan your garden, then happy planting!
