amsonia problem

Asked September 30, 2017, 1:25 PM EDT

This amsonia bluestar has been healthy and happy for 2 years. It has curling leaves and leaf spots for about a month now and is getting worse. Can you tell me what is causing it and what I can do about it? It is in part shade/sun garden behind Montauck daisys and bee balm which both look ok.

We viewed your photo and the plant does not look bad. Amsonia does not get a lot of insect or disease issues. There are several species.
We notice seed pods (long and narrow) on the plant. This is normal. They also have a lovely fall color. It is late in the season and all you can do is provide good growing conditions. They grow best in full sun to part shade in moist soils. Provide moisture during dry periods.
