Bees swarming oak tree

Asked September 29, 2017, 10:17 AM EDT

Hi I have a 25 year old pin oak tree that semms very healthy. Bees are swarming around the leaves. I don't see a hive/nest in the tree. Is there anything with regard to a pin oak That would attract bees ? Thank you

It is possible that you are seeing bees that are attracted to the 'honeydew' excreted by a sucking insect. This time of year as the frost-kill approaches, bees begin an almost frantic search for sweets.
