What am I?

Asked September 27, 2017, 5:43 PM EDT

My son works night shift at Lowe's in Danville, and he caught this little friend inside while stocking. He brought it home so no one at work would kill him. We know that he is non-venomous, but aren't sure what kind of snake he is, as we aren't from KY. His name is "Little Earl" & we think he may be a gray ratsnake?? Thanks for helping!!

It looks like an eastern milkshake. That is the most common snake that is brought in for identification. They are no poisonous and they get up to about 20 inches long when they are full grown. The males are darker than the females. Hope this helps.
