After doing some research, it seems the main difference between 'Gibraltar' and 'Little Volcano' species of Lespedeza thunberii is that 'Little Volcano' does not produce seeds. This is important because some lespedeza species are invasive plants in Ohio (reported in Muskingam County) and Michigan (Washtenaw County, just north of you). Choosing 'Little Volcano' will assure that this plant doesn't escape into the nearby environment and cause problems.
I am sending you information on both cultivars.
