Perennial Fall Cut Back

Asked September 22, 2017, 8:39 PM EDT

Hello, is it too soon to cut back perennials that I don't want to leave standing over the winter? Iris, lilies, bee balm, salvia, peony, shrub roses... Anything but grasses and hosta. If not now, when? Thank you.

It would be ok to do the iris but best to leave the others until first freeze. Here is a link to a simple chart that indicates garden care.
