Blueberry plants with red leaves

Asked September 16, 2017, 6:02 PM EDT

Some of our blueberry plants have bright red leaves while others next to them do not. What does this indicate? They are not losing their leaves. Our soil contains much clay but we planted with peat moss and pine bark soil.

Without seeing a physical sample it is hard to say. This publication link has a section on diseases with the symptoms listed http://www2.ca.uky.edu/agcomm/pubs/ho/ho60/HO60.PDF. I would recommend though bringing in a minimum of a 12 inch section of the good plant material, a sample with some good and bad, and a sample of the bad area. It would also be good to have a soil test done to eliminate nutritional concerns as the cause.
