Root rot

Asked September 2, 2017, 7:26 PM EDT

I believe our old English walnut tree has root rot. It has never had any issues until this 2017 growing season. It has barely leafed out this year and so barely any walnuts. What should we do?

Thank you for your question about your English walnut tree. What are you seeing that brings you to the diagnosis of root rot? There are several other reasons that a tree fails to produce leaves and nuts. Any way you can send photos of the tree from a few feet, plus close-up pictures of the leaves, trunk and stems? Also, have you been watering it this summer, or applying any dormant or spring chemicals this year?

Thanks for additional information!
