I have attached some pictures of some areas that have come up on the tomato plants this year. It seems that pretty much all of the crop has ended up like this. The names of the various types of tomatoes are jet star, super sonic, celebrity and mountain fresh. Early on some liquid Sevin was put on the plants. After that only organic pesticide and bug spray was used called Bonide. What are these spots and how can they be prevented?
This is anthracnose, a fungal disease. Take a look at our web page for more information about it and what you can do to manage it. https://extension.umd.edu/growit/anthracnose-vegetables
Insecticide products such as Sevin and Bonide will not do anything to treat or cure this problem. One of the best things you can do is to pick the tomatoes as they just start to develop color. Allow them to finish ripening inside, un-refrigerated.
