strawberries

I planted new strawberries this year and I read that one should take off any blossoms or fruit for the first year. What should I do for next year?

For next year, allow the strawberries to bloom and then enjoy the fruits! Take a look at the following web page for information on providing winter protection for the plants. https://extension.umd.edu/growit/fruits/renovationoverwintering-strawberries In addition, the following page has recommendations for fertilizing strawberries in their second year of growth: https://extension.umd.edu/growit/fruits/care-strawberries

When the strawberry fruits are developing, you might want to use a floating row cover or tulle fabric to exclude birds from " stealing" them, if that becomes a problem.
