Arctic Beauty Kiwi fruit

Asked August 24, 2017, 11:11 PM EDT

I have one Arctic Beauty Kiwi planted about 13 years ago. Every year it produces fruit but I don't have a male kiwi and I don't have any neighbors. So how is this possible?

It's true that the general consensus of reliable authorities is that Issai is a (the only) self-fertile kiwi cultivar and that Arctic Beauty male and female plants must be grown together to get fruit.

However, the following suggests that some cultivars other than Issai may also be self-fertile. If that's true, you may have one of those. It's not unusual for plants to be mislabeled in the market place. Otherwise, we don't know why your Arctic Beauty is an exception to the rule. Enjoy the anomaly.
