Miscanthus Giganteus - Does it tend to droop after it is established

Asked August 23, 2017, 3:52 PM EDT

I want to plant Miscanthus Giganteus as a privacy screen. Someone I mentioned this idea to said this plant will tend to droop when planted in windy/unprotected area. Your thoughts? Thanks, Charlie Blum

Hello,

Thank you for your question.

I checked with the Extension grass expert and here is her response....."no, not unless its very shaded, the giant miscanthus is very stiff, the stems are like bamboo and are not likely to fall over when grown in full sun."

Hope this helps.
