vole problem

Asked August 20, 2017, 5:55 PM EDT

My yard is overrun with voles. Our house is in the woods. I have put down warfarin (rat poison) in the vole holes, and dug up plants they were eating. Seems they just move from one spot to another. Please advise.

Voles sometimes build up big colonies. Our standard recommendation is mouse traps, but If you have a lot of voles, use a lot of snap traps. These will be most effective when the voles are hungry, so try to make the baits extra enticing. Experiment.
