chipmunks in my cherry trees

I have 2 lovely tart cherries that I net for bird protection every year. The last two years, despite netting, my cherries were gone almost overnight. I found the culprits this year. The trees were full of chipmunks, laying across the branches, too full of my cherries to scatter. Any tips for keeping chipmunks off? They can scamper right through the netting.
