Roundup .

Why do " to the root of it" keep saying roundup is safe when California has labeled it a carcinogen. Not only gypsolate but the carrying agent.

Multnomah County Oregon glyphosate

Thanks for your question about glyphosate. Although the California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment has listed glyphosate as a carcinogen, under the Supremacy Clause of the U.S. Constitution, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) 'trumps' state regulatory units. Monsanto challenged California's assessment, but lost at the trial court level. You can read about the status of the issue here.

The EPA has authorized this chemical for use in the states, but the National Pesticide Information Center does publish a fact sheet (last reviewed in 2015) which lists the chemical's effects (short of being a carcinogen.) You might notice a change sometime in the future, but it does not appear imminent.
