Tree losing a lot of leaves

Asked August 5, 2017, 9:49 AM EDT

We have a17 year old curly willow. It is dropping its leaves. And they are yellow. We have Japanese beetles close by. Could that be the problem. Thank you.

We would have to see the tree or sharp photos of the affected leaves to determine what's causing the problem.

Holes and/or a lace-like appearance would be evidence of Japanese beetle leaf damage.

Leaf spots are often evidence of disease. Leaf diseases may be unsightly but their effect on tree health is usually minimal.

If you continue to be concerned, consider asking a certified arborist to assess the tree's health onsite and recommend a course of action.

Thank you. The leaves are not skeleton like but yellow with some black spots. I think it is stresses. We will water it more.
