I have 12 5 year asparagus plants that I want to move . When should I do it ? My hostas have flowered out and it looks like there are seed pods on the stems . Can I cut them off ?

Early spring is the ideal time to transplant asparagus although the fall is acceptable as well. When an asparagus bed is well established, it is often recommended to start with new crowns rather than trying to dig up the established roots of the old ones.

Yes, you can cut off hosta seed stalks.
