Water Quality

Asked July 31, 2017, 1:26 PM EDT

I live in the greater Newark area and have my own well. It's been over 20 years since I've had my water tested for hardness, iron, minerals etc as well bacteria. I'm looking for a local company that's reputable that can perform this service. Does the University offer this service?

New Castle County Delaware water quality water

Hi,

Delaware's Office of Drinking water actually offers testing for private well owners. Kits are only $4 ($2 for chemicals and $2 for bacteriological) and available at 4 locations across the state (one in Newark)!

This web page provides the locations and instructions: http://www.dhss.delaware.gov/dph/hsp/privdw.html

I understand too (while I don't think their web page advertises this) that if you have other water quality concerns, such as lead for example, you could request those additional tests and that too would only cost $2.

Good luck and I hope this was helpful!
