Nanking cherry propagation

Asked July 24, 2017, 7:47 AM EDT

Hi, I would like to grow some Nanking Cherries from seed. I collected some cherries last week and cleaned the seed. I cleaned them by shaking them in a jar that was 1/2 filled with water. Then I rubbed them in a towel. I did not dip them in bleach water. Then I dried them for 3-4 days and there are now in a baggie in the refrigerator. Do I plant the seed this fall or do I keep them refrigerated until spring? Thank you! John

The following bulletin will probably provide all the information you need to grow Nanking cherries from seed. The bulletin was prepared for Utah residents, but its content also applies to Minnesota.
