What's wrong with our tree?
One of our large pine trees has dead branchs; mainly on the north and western sides, randomly spaced. What can we do to help this poor tree; and can we prevent this spreading to our other two pines nearby, and the spreading yew bushes? I will attempt to send pictures

Your tree is a spruce, not a pine It is entirely possible that it has one of the many diseses or insects that attack spruce. As it is a large tree, it probably is quite valuable to your landscape. Your best option is to have a certified arborist make an on-site inspection and diagnosis. You can find one by visiting this web site and clicking on Find An Arborist. You can put in your zip code to find a local arborist: http://www.treesaregood.org/
