I think it is an anthracnose leaf spot. There are several that infect maples.

The pictures in the article are of another anthracnose on silver maple but the diseases are similar. Anthracnose is an old catchall name for leaf spots.

Hello......thank you for your reply. The Anthracnose diagnosis was correct. Great Work. The below link was the confirmation (for me) because it contained a "picture" of the leaves that look exactly like ours. The article was found under a search for "anthracnose." As a novice in tree and leaf issues, I needed the picture and your diagnosis together. ..........(don't get offended), may I suggest that future responses include a picture. Thanks again.
