Mums blooming too soon

Asked July 15, 2017, 10:14 PM EDT

Last year I planted three Minnestoa hardy mum plants. They were advertised as not having to be pinched back to become bushy and they did as promised. But now they are blooming and it is only the middle of July! And I wanted fall color in my garden. Will they keep blooming if I keep them deadheaded? What can I do next year for a later bloom? Should I pinch off the early buds or what?
