Non blooming hydrangeas

Asked July 15, 2017, 9:53 PM EDT

I planted 9 Annabelle hydrangeas last spring, and there are hardly any blooms. They are tall and wide, and a couple blooms on lower branches, but all in all hardly any. Can I prune the top part of,shrub that doesn't have any teeny blooms, or fertilize with Miracid? I fertilized them this spring with Miracid. Everything else in my gardens is doing very well. What is the problem, as I planted them for the blooms, so I can dry them and use them in decor.

Following is the answer to a similar question. It's OK to prune the tops if you wish.
