Butterfly population decline?

Asked July 15, 2017, 7:59 PM EDT

Is it just our imagination, or has there been a sharp drop in the number of swallowtail butterflies in the area. Typically there are lots of them exploring our cone flowers, etc., but this year we've only seen two or three. Lots of sulphurs and coppers, but that's about it.

According to the North American Butterfly Association, yes, unfortunately, many butterfly populations are in decline. This is due to habitat loss as well as the use of pesticides.
