eradication of Goutweed or Bishop's weed? Aegopodium podagraria

Asked July 9, 2017, 10:27 PM EDT

How can I eradicate goutweed that is coming from my neighbor's border? I have a carefully maintained a pesticide-free garden while my neighbor's neglected home and garden is overrun with Canadian thistle, and now, something worse - Goutweed!! I am not sure what will kill it as I have heard Round-Up and most known weed killers won't suppress the underground rhizomes. HELP! What can you recommend beside hand-weeding??? My neighbor is getting the house ready to sell and I need to stop it at the boundary while there is a chance. Thanks!

The following two resources offer recommendations on how to control goutweed. For manual removal, you can try digging up the roots as much as possible. Round-up (glyphosate) is the best available chemical to use, but you will have to make repeated applications.
