Magnolia dropping leaves in July

Asked July 9, 2017, 10:25 PM EDT

I have a very healthy magnolia (at least it appears to be). It is deciduous. I live in Canada, so it leafs out in May. Now in July, while it is thick and green, and we have had LOTS of rain this spring and summer so far, it is dropping leaves quickly. Every day I either have to rake them up or cut the lawn to mulch them or leave a mess. Is this normal for a magnolia?

This is an unusual event. Difficult to say what is problem but if too much rain and soil around plant is saturated for tool long then that stress can result in leaf drop.
