Asked July 8, 2017, 12:36 AM EDT

I have only owned my little ½ acre for a year now. I've discovered this tree and no one can tell me what kind of nuts it has and many have looked plus tried looking on internet. So I'll just ask you the experts. Help with what this tree is please?

Hi, What you have there is a Hickory. I'm no tree expert, but if it was here naturally it should either be a shellbark or shagbark, I can't tell from the pictures. When the trees are mature the shagbark will be easy to pick out even in winter by it's bark. You might also check out one of UK's publications, it covers a lot of nut trees in Ky and might be useful to you. you can find it at: http://www2.ca.uky.edu/agcomm/pubs/id/id77/id77.pdf

if we can be of further assistance pleas give us a call at 270-522-3269. Thanks- Graham
