Non opening flowers on Coralbell

Have five healthy coralbell plants about 5 years old. Every year they all send up flower stems but the flowers stay in tight bud and never open. I was looking forward to the delicate little flowers so am disappointed. Is it the cultivar or could it be something else?

Since most people grow coral bells for the foliage, not for the blooms, they are not bred to bloom prolifically. So yes, your problem could be cultivar-related, but it could also be simply lack of sun. Read here:
