When is the best tiime to transplant rhubarb and what is the best food (fertilizer )to use?
Meeker County Minnesota
Thank you for your questions.
Here are some the answers -- early spring best. Early fall okay. If planted in the fall, mulch with straw as cold weather sets in. Fertilize in the spring, 1 cup 10-10-10 per plant spread around the crown not on the crown (promotes rotting). Aged compost good anytime. Don't place "raw" manure on/or around the plant.....best to incorporate manure into the compost and let it decompose.
Hope this helps.
