what's wrong with my echinacea?

Asked July 1, 2017, 8:19 PM EDT

Hi- My previously healthy coneflowers seem to have some kind of fungus or pest on their stems. It's white and fuzzy and the flowers really don't look healthy. I have some pink campanula nearby and some of the stems also seem to have this. It seems to have appeared rather suddenly. The plants are in partial shade. Any idea what it is or how to treat it?

This looks like planthoppers on the stem. See our website for more information and photos. No control is necessary. These plants grow best in full sun.
