Black walnut branch damage

Asked July 1, 2017, 5:43 PM EDT

Our black walnut dropped nuts prematurely last summer and is doing so again. I know it's not uncommon so have not been too concerned. However, a small branch came down last night and I see what looks like pest damage. It does not look like pix I've seen of thousand canker damage, and I have not been able to find a match online. I am attaching some photos, as well as picture of the crown from below. Can you advise? Many thanks!

We viewed your photos. The left photos shows the pith and this is normal. The right photo shows old cicada damage on the branch. No controls are necessary. The tree looks pretty healthy.
