Freezing fresh asparagus

We have a wonderful opportunity of getting alot of fresh asparagus, but are hesitant because in the past we only have eaten it fresh. The thought of freezing it and it becoming mushy is dreadful. Do you have a tried and true method of freezing it and it still be crisp. Do you thaw it or oven roast it still frozen or just take as much as we think we can eat in a short period.
