Care of wild spice bush

When we moved here 2 years ago, I was thrilled to find spice bushes growing wild. One in particular has gotten quite large & thick ( about 8' tall & at least as wide). I would like to prune it back a bit but I am not sure how to proceed. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Spice bush tolerates pruning very well. It's recommended that pruning be autumn or early spring. If you just need to remove a little to get it out of the way, you can do that anytime.

Follow the usual good pruning practices (for example, not leaving branch stubs, leaving the branch collar). Here is a good pruning review:
