Dynamite Crape Myrtle Needs Help !!

Asked June 20, 2017, 8:32 PM EDT

We bought 2 together about 15 months ago. One is doing very well with very full leaves, but this one not as well. Right half (1st pic) not too bad but leaves on left half and back are much smaller and some twigs have no leaves. Please advise....

It is likely that these plants are still establishing, and the root system on this one has had a harder time. They can take a few seasons to really get going, especially given how large they are and that winter can take a toll.
You can prune out dead wood at any time, which will clean up the look some.
We are assuming these are sited in full sun, which they need to bloom well.
Be sure to keep them well-watered during the heat of the summer, and if we were to go into a drought situation.
