small black hard shell bugs

Asked June 18, 2017, 4:40 PM EDT

hello, I currently have my bed on the floor infront of a window in my apartment. Ever since there are small black hardshell bugs we will find sporadically in the bed or on the sheets. they are maybe 1-2 mm and can crawl fast, I have never seen them fly. Attached is a picture of a dead one. -

It is difficult to see the insect well in the photo. Can you send another?
It could be a black carpet beetle. See this fact sheet http://ento.psu.edu/extension/factsheets/black-carpet-beetle

The insect in the photo does not look like a bed bug, but I'd need to see a better photo to ID properly.

You can also submit an insect (dead or alive) for ID to your local county extension office. Offices can be found at http://extension.psu.edu/counties
