soil sample

I am going to remove my grass and plant new seed. I need to get soil samples in front and back, how do i do that. Also i will need to know what seed to plant in sunny areas and shade areas under trees.

On it you will find a video on how to take a good soil sample, and a list of labs that can complete the analysis for you. Visit the website of the lab of your choice and print out their submission form. Send it, your sample and a check through the mail to them.

The time to renovate your lawn is in the late summer into the fall. Turf-type tall fescues are recommended for sun and a mix of tall fescues and fine fescues are better for shade.
Full shade is difficult to grow grass in, and mulched garden beds or groundcover plants may be a better option.
