It really depends on the red food. For instance, red bell peppers, strawberries and cranberries contain powerful antioxidants that protect against diseases and aging. Red spices like turmeric and cinnamon are anti inflammatory. The red lentils are a fat and cholesterol source of protein that are also high in soluble fiber which lowers cholesterol and stabilizes blood sugars. The skins of apples are also a good source of soluble fiber. But red foods are not the only ones that contain healthful nutrients. All plant foods have fiber and many protective compounds.
