Changing colour of Japanese fern

Asked June 1, 2017, 3:53 AM EDT

My Japanese fern seems to be growing well but it's new foliage is coming through plain green. Any ideas why?

I am not sure. As the new foliage has matured has it returned to the color you expected?

No it has remained green. As I have other ferns do you think it could be a " normal" fern growing among it?

It is likely that it is a different fern or a hybrid if you have others in the area. The new plant/growth may still be too young to have the dark leaves, but I am not familiar enough with Japanese ferns to know for sure. It is more likely a different type of fern if you have the others in the area.
