Dwarf Tree resistant to Verticillium Wilt
We just lost a beautiful little redbud and have been told by staff at Farmington Gardens (in light of the tree parts I showed them) that it was because of verticillium wilt fungus in the soil. Can you give us some guidance about another dwarf tree (with some character) that we might plant in the same location?

Thank you for your question about verticillium wilt. So sorry about your redbud. I'm afraid identification of a tree with 'character' is a rather subjective point of view, but here's a link to a comprehensive list of trees not to plant and many that are resistant or immune.
Hope this is helpful. Good luck!
