Leaves on Artic Fire Dogwood

Asked May 30, 2017, 1:22 PM EDT

Hi, I cut back my Artic Fire Dogwoods last fall to the ground. They're growing now, but some leaves are mottled and disfigured and it looks like something is eating holes into other leaves. I've attached pictures, and on one of the photos there is a small bug. Looking further, I found the bug on a few other leaves. Your insight is greatly appreciated. Let me know if you need additional information. Susan

I believe your culprit is a Polydrusus Weevil. The effect is basically cosmetic but not harmful to the health of your shrub. http://www.extension.umn.edu/garden/diagnose/insect/garden/beetles/medium/polydweevil.html
