If you are trying to raise a North American huntsman spider, I would suggest using baby crickets. Most pet food shops (at least, the big chain stores) carry crickets for feeding to reptiles and spiders. I used to have a tarantula, which I fed mature crickets to; your spider is much smaller, and probably can't handle a full size cricket.

Simply release the crickets in the cage with the spider, and then leave them alone. These spiders tend to dislike bright lights and disturbances, and may only feed at night when it's dark and quiet.

Good luck!
