Peonies on my boulevard?

Asked May 24, 2017, 11:36 PM EDT

Hi! I recently removed the weed ridden sod from my boulevard in S Mpls and am wondering if I can plant peonies instead? Will they tolerate road salt? Many of my neighbors have prairie type plants on their boulevards but I'm looking for something low maintenance and beautiful that will attract pollinators for my large veggie garden. I live on a corner and have full sun. There are 2 small crabapple trees on the strip I'm inquiring about.

Peonies are tolerant of salt, dry , hot conditions and poor soil and are among the choices recommended for boulevard gardens.
