What's eating my Ivory Silk lilac tree?

Asked May 16, 2017, 1:26 PM EDT

I noticed holes in the leaves of my tree. Also some withered looking leaves and some small yellow leaves. Will this harm my tree? We planted it last fall. Is there something I could/should do about it? Thanks

I'm not seeing anything significantly abnormal here. The tree itself looks healthy. The curling could be feeding of some sucking insects like aphids - you should check for them. I only see one "hole", which could be caused by anything. Here is a good discussion of aphids on trees:

Just make sure your tree is hydrated during hot dry periods.
