pruning a silver maple

Asked May 13, 2017, 1:01 PM EDT

My silver maple has a dead branch that is about six inches in diameter at the main trunk. When can I cut it off?

Good question. Perfect timing. According to the following URL, late spring or early summer (now) is a good time to prune maples because there will be less sap flow than earlier in the year. You might also find the section "Pruning Large Branches" helpful. This is a large branch. Correct pruning will keep your tree healthy.
